journal-information-at-your-fingertips
June 09, 2021
If you’re already using Wiley Journal Insights (WJI), you’ll know how useful it is to have all the data you need for your journal at your fingertips, whenever you need it. WJI was launched five years ago for our journal editors and society partners, ensuring secure, easy online access to your publication’s data. Data is uploaded monthly, including downloads, citation trends and bibliometrics, production trends and turnaround times, and submissions.
Who’s using Wiley Journal Insights?
There are now over 2,500 registered users with more joining all the time. Use of the site is growing, but we’re always looking for ways to improve our platform and better serve our editors. Last year, we added peer review data, showing submission patterns by volume and by article type. Editors can see how many papers of each type were referred and transferred, in addition to how many were accepted or rejected. Plus, in the production tab, we added a snapshot of the total accepted articles and the option to break them down by article type.
Filtering and target setting
A recent innovation for WJI has been a focus on target setting. Editors can monitor journal performance against key target metrics (like submissions and publication times), all of which can be filtered, saved, and downloaded for repeat use in reports and presentations. Wiley Journal Insights also gives you the option to filter data and display only the information you care about, to prevent data overload and clutter. Editors can share up to five filters with other users with the same access rights as you, making for easier collaboration and better decision-making.
What’s next for WJI?
Over the next 12 months, we’ll be making significant updates to the site, making it more user-friendly. You’ll be able to see how long it takes for any article to appear in an issue. From June, users will even be able to track which journal articles are part of a transitional agreement. WJI will be a constantly evolving resource to help you keep up with the fast pace of change in research publishing.
