Promoting your book

When it comes to making your book stand out, your efforts and connections matter the most. At Wiley, we're here to equip you with the tools and know-how to expand your book's reach. Here's what we suggest:

  • Make your book a part of everything you do: Share it on social media, in your email signature, on your website, and during speaking engagements. Including mentions of your book in your professional bios and any training programs you offer can also help boost visibility.
  • Get friends, colleagues, and followers to spread the word about your book. Encourage them to share posts, leave reviews on Amazon, and include links to your book on their own social media platforms and networks.
  • Take every speaking opportunity you can get, whether it's at conferences, workshops, or local events. Speaking engagements not only allow you to showcase your expertise but also provide a platform for promoting your book. Remember to take a copy of your book with you!
  •  Give copies of your book to influencers and thought leaders in your field who can help amplify its visibility through word of mouth and endorsements.
  • Don't forget about your existing community; they're just as important as new customers. Engage with your subscribers, followers, and existing customers through regular communication, exclusive content, and special offers to maintain their interest and support.
  • Check that your book is available in your institution's library and encourage colleagues and students to access it.

  • More people buy books from Amazon than from any other bookstore. We make sure information about your book is correct and feeds to Amazon six months ahead of publication - you don't have to do anything for this to happen. But there are ways you can help boost sales at Amazon: Use Amazon Author Programs, such as Amazon Author Central, to enhance your book's presence on the platform and encourage customer reviews.
  • You can also improve your book’s Amazon page by working with your editor or marketing manager to optimize keywords, add compelling descriptions, and use visual elements like cover images, A+ content, video, and author photos.
  • Enhance your book's online discoverability through SEO tactics such as linking to your book's page from your website, incorporating relevant keywords in your content, and engaging with other websites and blogs in your field.
  • Leverage social media platforms strategically by creating engaging content, interacting with your audience, and making use of  features like hashtags, stories, and live videos to promote your book effectively.
  • Use various platforms like Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube to connect with different audience segments and share diverse content formats like quotes, excerpts, behind-the-scenes insights, and author interviews.
  • Promote yourself and your book at conferences, events, and appearances by securing speaking opportunities, participating in panel discussions, and networking with fellow professionals and attendees.
  • Reach out to media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and podcasters to pitch story ideas, request interviews, and seek opportunities for book reviews, features, or guest appearances.
